-----Cooperation between Animals
Cooperation is the process of working together to achieve the same goal, this is especially crucial for the survival of any social beings. Recently, the researchers from Kyoto University applied a simplified Hirata Task to discover the cooperative abilities of dolphins. One phenomenon that the researchers discover between the dolphins is the relationships between the "initiator" and "follower" among a group. The initiator would wait for their peers to perform cooperative actions and the followers would adjust their swimming speed to match the behavior of the initiator. This phenomenon, synchronized swimming explains the evolution of the animals and this development would greatly increase the rate of survival of the dolphins.

Prosocial Behavior in the Parrots Human and other great apes are known for helping others in need. Recently, researchers have found similar behavior in some birds, especially parrots. Parrots have larger brains compares to those of other birds, and they are capable to learn and intimate human language. Researchers conduct an experiment to find out how willingness is a parrot to help its peers, the result surprise the researchers. Seven parrots out of eight provide helps spontaneously when they figured out their peers are in need. These parrots are willing to provide help without having any immediate benefit nor expect others to return in near future. In the future, the researchers would investigate the mechanism behind parrots’ behaviors for helping each other out.

Recent discoveries have shown a direct relationship between brain circuit and food impulsivity. Impulsivity is the response to an action without thinking of the consequences. A team of researchers from the University of Georgia found out that melanin concentrating hormone (MCH), a chemical substance that secretes in the brain, plays a huge role in this behavior. The level of MCH affects how impulsive an animal is in its behavior towards food intake. MCH binds animals' inhibitory control instead of changing how much animal like the food, or their ability to stop themselves from trying to get the food which causes binge eating, obesity and other health problems. A a result, with a result, a extend research of MCH, scientists are able to create effective solution for food related health problems.

Willingness for people to donate personal data?

Researches are build-up by data to prove its credibility and where are these data comes from, "the outside world", especially those researches related to human. The University of Bristol suggested three distinct reasons for donating personal information which is an opportunity to achieve self-benefit, prosocial motive to serve society, and the need to understand the purpose of data donation. Prosocial duty is the idea to serve the society and give back to the society that they living in. Self-interest considers the need to receiving something meaningful from donating personal information, such as reputation. While some need to understand the purpose of the data donation in order to comprehend the consequences of doing so. Different people with different personalities and moods can have different reasons for donating the information, these are worth considering in future researches. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/11/191120141824.htm

Carbon Removalization

The emission of carbon dioxide has significantly increased since the industrial revolution and caused many problems such as the depletion of the ozone layer and global warming; however, the University of Oxford and five other institutions had suggested to capture carbon dioxide and turning into a commercial product and form a new global industry. The research proposed more than 10 different ways of using carbon dioxide. New utilization in carbon dioxide is an important attempt for carbon dioxide removal from the atmosphere and the replacement of fossil fuels by carbon dioxide. These extra carbon dioxides then could fuel the development in fields such as agriculture, forestry, and construction. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/11/191107093927.htm

Importance of Sleep

Only 48% of the U.S. school-age children get at most 9 hours of sleep most weeknights. American Academy of Pediatrics 's recent study has suggested a strong relationship between hours of sleep and school performance. Having a good sleep increases odds of performing multiple tasks such as interest, curiosity on learning. More care about school and better overall performance. Brown and White Body Fat

Most people don't know about the two different types of body fats: white and brown. Both fats lie on a different portion of the body, secrete different hormones and use for different purposes. White fat is a source of energy when food is scarce and receives signals from different hormones such as adrenalin and insulin. Researchers have discovered many benefits of brown fat is very beneficial, it produces heat, regulate the cellular immune system. These fats are crucial for communicating with the rest of the body and maintaining daily body function. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/10/191025101509.htm

Extraterrestrial, Trigger for Ice-Age Animal Extinction

Many people were questioning about what causes the extinction of ice-age animals such as sabertooth tiger and mammoth. The University of South Carolina suggested a possible cause based on their research at White Pond near Elgin. The extraterrestrial body crashing to Earth almost 13,000 years ago was what really cause massive extinction of large animals and what causes the population decline of early humans. The unusually high concentrations of platinum and iridium from the crater in Greenland proved such inference. It is hard to really understand the true reasons for the end of the ice age just like the mystery of dinosaur extinction. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/10/191025110314.htm

Lithium Battery

Nonrenewable resources especially fossil fuels have rise significant problem since the 1950s and has caused severe damages to human health, economy, and environmental concerns. John B.Goodenough, M.Stanly Whittingham and Akira Yoshino made immense progress on the invention of lithium batteries. The lithium battery is lightweight, rechargeable and powerful, and it can store significant amounts of energy from solar and wind power, making fossil fuel-free society possible which is the greatest benefit to humankind. Signs of Earth-like Planet in the Universe

People have always questions about whether or not Earth is the only planet with signs of the living being. New research from the University of California suggests a piece of possible evidence that can be used to support Earth is not unique in the universe. Earth and other planets in the solar system contain high oxidized iron content, high oxidized iron is an essential ingredient of the formation of life. This characteristic also appears on rocks from different white Dwarf stars collected from space. It also rises sleep and circulatory disorders due to the failure of homeostasis. Even though the human life span has risen dramatically from advancements in medical and technological fields, new sorts of problems have brought up. -Cut low in Red and Processed meat Consumption Have Little or no Impact on Human Health As the human standard of living increases over the world, people started to focus on their health issues, especially on their food consumption. Meat, one of the most critical diets that support daily activities; however, there is a dispute over what type of meat is best for the human body. It is divided into red meat, processed meat, and white meat. Most of the population believes white meat is better for the human body, and red and processed meat is worse for the human body, but recent research from McMaster University disproves this claim. Five new systematics reviews suggest eating red or processed meat has little impact on human health and there is no significant evidence to prove the relationship between meat consumption and the risk of diseases, yet we need to consider animal welfare and environmental concerns brought by meat consumption. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/09/190930215122.htm

There is no relationship between mental problem and the use of Smartphone

Often in time, adults were concerned with the widespread of smartphones and worries about their effects on children. One recent study conduct by the University of California disproves this belief. Researchers surveyed more than 2,000 youths and compare the results with teens who use their smartphone multiple times a week. Reports have shown no evidence of smartphone usage on teens' s mental health. In addition, there are benefits been discovered for using a smartphone, teens who sending more messages shown to be less depressed compared to teens who were textless. Jump Genes would be the most efficient option for agriculture in the near future

Jumper genes, know for its effects on fruit shape and clour in tomatoes have become an important tool for creating resilient crops regard of global warming. Jumper genes in tomatoes can be transplanted into other crops which can create a diversity of traits, some of traits such as drought resistance and maximize yield are critical for our near future. Not only jumper genes create a diverse trait, but it also reduces the breeding time compare to traditional methods like selective breeding. This funding is crucial for recent problems(global warming, pollution, health) we face, with it, we can discover the alternate pathways to solve these problems. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/09/190916143949.htm

Ageing cause weight gaining

Obesity and obesity-related diseases were never a problem, but with the increase of processed food, this becomes a global problem and phenomenon is especially common among the elderly. According to the study conducted by researchers from Uppsala University and University of Lyon, the decrease in lip turnover in fat tissue is the cause. By comparing patients who underwent bariatric surgery and the one that doesn't. The result indicates fat tissues regulate body weight during aging are totally independent of all factors. By studying lipid dynamics and a way to regulate human body fat masses would bring hope to future obesity and obesity-related disease. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/09/190909193211.htm

Soil under Climate Change

News about the effects of climate change on the environment and human health are all over the world. The situation seems to worsen, according to the study of Rutgers University. For example, the soil is under the influence of climate change, especially how the soil is interacting with the water. Under the influence of climate change, the average precipitation around the world increases; consequently, there are less water infiltration, more runoff and erosion, and greater risk of flash flooding. These factors are responsible for the amount of water that is available for plants. Statistics have shown the precipitation has increased by 35 percent while the water infiltration has decreased by 21- 33 percent, which means the land will suffer from drought if no further action is taken. From what's happening, the scale of the effects of climate change has increased, it kept shrinking the living space of human and other species, without doubts, more aspects of living will suffer from changes (negative), we have to take actions before it is too late. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/09/190911151204.htm

*** "The Effects of Soil under Climate Change" ***

- "Effects of" provides specificity and clarity to the title.

*** News about the effects of climate change on the environment and human health have spread all over the world.***'

- "Have spread" gives your sentence more description.

***According to a study by Rutgers University, the situation seems to be worsening.***

- Switching the sentence lets it flow smoother. "Worsen" becomes an active verb since it connects with "situation".

***For example, soil is under the influence of climate change, especially since the soil interacts with water.***

- For generalized words like "soil" and "water" there is no need for the article "the" which adds unnecessary specificity. "Since" is a better transitory word than "how".

***Under the influence of climate change, the average precipitation around the world has increased; consequently, there is less water infiltration, more runoff and erosion, and a greater risk of flash-flooding.***

- Good sentence. "Increases" should become "has increased" to show that it was something of the past that has continued into the present. "Water infiltration" is singular, so the verb "are" must become "is".

***These factors are responsible for the amount of water that is available for plants.***

- No edits, good sentence.

***Statistics have shown that precipitation has increased by 35% while water infiltration has decreased by 21 to 33%, which means that droughts will become more common is no further action is taken.***

- Again, the article "the" is not necessary in with generalized terms like "precipitation" or "water infiltration". You can used "%" for percentages. The conclusion of your sentence is a bit awkward. Try to be as straightforward as possible.

*** As the effects of climate change increase, it shrinks the living spaces of humans and other species and we have to take action before it is too late.***

- Your conclusion becomes a run-on sentence. Remove phrases like "without doubts" and "more aspects of living", which will clear up the sentence.

Steps Toward Healthier Diet

As technology advances, more people have concentrated on a healthy diet. Cornell University had created a new low-calorie butter that consists of mostly water. Compare to the actual butter, containing 84 percent fat and 16 percent water, the calories it contains is nearly 100, 4 times of the new butter. The new butter tastes similar to the actual butter and it is more suitable for consumers' needs of a healthy diet. With the rising concern of healthy issues, the demand for the low-fat, high-protein products has increased and decreased the ratio of unhealthy substances out of the product while maintaining the original flavor is the best option for the increased demand for a healthy diet. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/08/190820154255.htm

Steps Toward A Healthier Diet

    • Without the "a" this was incomplete and sounded very awkward.

As time goes on, individuals are concentrating on healthier diets.

    • What does technology have to do with becoming healthy? I don't see a correlation there and if there is one it needs to be shown in the sentence.

Cornell University has created a new low-calorie butter that consists of mostly water.

    • You need to have the same tense throughout. Therefore, it should be "has" not "had" and "consists" not "consist."

Compared to the low-calorie butter, original butter contains 84 percent fat and has nearly 4 times more calories.

    • A shortened version of the original sentence, moving the sentence around to ensure fluidity.

The new butter tastes similar to original butter, yet it is more suitable for the consumers' need for a healthy diet.

    • Instead of writing "actually butter" it is more effective to write "original butter." The tensing is still awkward and needs to match throughout the sentence.

With a rising concern of health issues, the demand for low-fat, high-protein products has increased. The need to reduce unhealthy substances while simultaneously maintaining the original flavor is the best option for the increasing demand of a healthy diet.

    • The end of this piece is much more effective when it is separated into two sentences. There were minimal errors with tense throughout the sentence and I replaced some words in order for the sentence to sound more put together.

Spending Billions on Killing Yourself

Drugs were originally used for medical purposes, but their highly addictive behavior caused mental disorders that create illusions and eventually caused the death of the people. According to U.S. statistics on drugs, Americans spend $150 billion in 2016 for cannabis, cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine. Money spend on these wouldn't make the country prosper, but dragging it into endless black hole that weaken the country. From 2010 to 2016, the number of individuals who used cannabis increased by nearly 30 percent which is around 25 million to 32 million people. These stats are not just numbers, it signifies the importance of this issues and how we should take immediate actions to pull out of the endless bottom before it is too late. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/08/190820081846.htm

Edits: Drugs were originally used for medical purposes, but given their highly addictive nature, they are known to cause eventual death amongst individuals.

    • Looking through the source, I couldn't find anything that specified that drugs cause "mental disorders." I think you should be more specific of what the consequences of these drugs are, rather than being vague as you are in this piece.

According to statistics on drug use in the United States, Americans spent $150 billion in 2016 for cannabis, cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine.

    • Switching the "U.S." to the other side of the sentence helps with sentence fluidity. Since you're speaking of the past, as in 2016, you have to use the past tense of "spend."
    • I would suggest taking out the line that explains how drugs drag the country into an "endless black hole," because other than being an opinion it doesn't do much to show your point. If you wanted to explain how this is happening you would morph this sentence into an introductory sentence and then set up the rest of the piece to support this idea that you believe is true. It seems out of place in this section of the piece.

From 2010 to 2016, the number of individuals who used cannabis increased by nearly 30 percent, making the number of users range at about 25 million to 32 million people.

    • The ending of this sentence was a bit awkward.

These stats conclude that the usage of drugs throughout the nation have increased and it is important to understand how to mitigate the effects of the drugs that Americans are spending thousands of dollars on.

    • Similar to the other sentence, this one is lacking because it takes away from the main idea of this piece. I'm assuming you're trying to claim that drugs are bad for the nation, but while doing this you need to prove why it is this way and get your piece much more focused.

Avoiding Cell Phone

Cellphone has become an essential part of daily human life, often after mental challenges questions or work, people tend to take out their phone and expect it to recharge brain efficiency, but it turns out that it could result in worse performance. According to research, people who take a cell phone break took 19 percent longer to complete a certain task and solved 22 percent less problems than people who other kinds of breaks. This scene of taking out phone during breaks has lower the productivity and the efficiency of work. Many didn't realized the importance of addressing this problem, sure enough, cell phone did makes human life more colorful and efficiency, but we still have to keep in mind of the harmful aspects that it brought that are never seen throughout the history of human. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/08/190819132130.htm

    • The original title was a bit awkward and left the reader unsure of what this piece is about.

The cellphone has become an essential part of daily human life, with many relying on it for mental challenges, questions, or work.

    • It was important to place "the" before "cellphone" because it sounds odd simply writing "cellphone."
Many people expect their cellphones to recharge brain efficiency, yet it turns out that this may result in worse performance.
    • The original was a run-on sentence

    • Instead of speaking in past-tense it is much more effective to speak in the present tense.

The usage of the cellphone during breaks has proven to lower productivity and efficiency of work. While many can agree that cellphones make human life easier, it is crucial to understand the harmful aspects of cellphones.

    • There were many issues with tense in this sentence, as you were jumping from past to present tense throughout the entirety of the piece. Instead of calling the cellphone "colorful" I thought it was much more appropriate to present that cellphones make life easier. It is better to choose the simple word, in this case. Instead of saying something longer such as "keep in mind," I modified the last sentence to become shorter while still explicitly letting the reader know the important point of it.

Using Antibiotics Without Prescription

Antibiotics are what we use to cure ills, but if use incorrectly could cause severe health issues. Now, many people can obtain antibiotics without prescription from professionals. From family, leftover, friends and local markets. According to statistics, a quarter of people in one study use antibiotics without a prescription. This is a serious problem because certain antibiotics are prescribed for certain person under certain condition, without a professional guiding the directions, antibiotics could turn back on the patient and cause more serious problems. such as fever, headache and dizziness, even worse, it can causes your death. So don't led other factors affect you and be courageous to go to doctor when facing medical issues. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/07/190722182123.htm

Edits: Antibiotics are used to cure illness, but if they are used incorrectly, they can cause severe health issues.

    • I replaced "ills" with "illness," as it is more fitting. The second half of the sentence was modified because "use" and "could" were the wrong choice of words to use.

In today's world, many people can obtain antibiotics without a prescription from professionals, acquiring the medication from family, friends and local markets.

    • I combined the two sentences as they sounded better together, and less choppy. I changed the first word because "now" does not display what you're trying to express. It should be "a prescription," rather than "prescription."

In one study, it was presented that a quarter of people use antibiotics without a prescription.

    • This was a confusing sentence as it is hard to distinguish whether individuals in the actual study used antibiotics without a prescription, or the overall population. The original sentence was misleading.

This is a severe issue because specific antibiotics are prescribed for certain conditions, and when this is abused it can cause issues such as fevers, headaches, dizziness and in some cases, death.

    • The original sentence was a run-on and to avoid the repetition of "certain," I changed the sentence around.

To avoid further sickness, it is important to visit the doctor and take medication that is directed for the needs of you and your body.

    • Instead of saying "be courageous," this edited sentence sounds much more formal.

Saving Forests

As the world population increases, serious problems about food consumptions have brought up to people' attentions. Increases in food consumptions means the transformation of forests to arable land. As a result of this, tropical regions will be destroy as well as the diversities of the region. Consumptions on meat and diary would cause more impacts beyond deforestation, serious problems on the increase of production of greenhouse gases. • If the word "means" is plural, then "consumption" cannot be.

As a result of this, tropical regions, as well as its diversities, will be destroyed.

    • To avoid repetition, I shortened the sentence. "Destroy" must be "destroyed," as you're referring to the future.

Consumption of meat and dairy will cause further impact beyond deforestation, such as a severe increase in the production of greenhouse gases.

    • Dairy was spelled incorrectly. There needed to be a smoother transition from one part of the sentence to the next rather than just stating it. I used "such as" to make it sound less awkward. The original end of the sentence does not make sense. I assume you're trying to state there are going to be severe future consequences, which I attempted to present in my modifications.

In order to avoid these severities, we must find a new way to replace the needs of dairy and meat, by using plant-based alternatives.

    • An introduction to this sentence helps with fluidity and helps it to avoid sounding choppy. "A plant based-alternatives" does not sound correct because "alternatives" is plural and cannot have "a" in front of it.

If it is successful, the demand for agriculture land could be reduced by 11 percent, which is critical for reducing the burdens of our planet.

    • A comma was needed before "which."

Flavonoid-rich diet provides protection against cancer and heart disease

The growing number of processed food has caused a increase in the unhealthy population. Researchers from ECU's School and Health Science analyzed data and found out flavonid, a plant chemical, reduce the chance for people to die from cancer and heart disease, especially for smokers and heavy drinkers. Flavonoids have shown anti-inflammatory and improves vessel function which are the most critical aspect of cancer and heart disease. Flavonid may reduce the harms, but the best solution is to quit bad habits. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/08/190813080204.htm

Hottest Month On Record

Global Warming has become a more severe topic as time flow, according to records, the average global temperature in July was 1.71 degrees F higher than the average of 60.4 degrees since the 20th century. The month of July was the hottest year to date on record, the 415th consecutive month above average global temperature. This is exatragration, global warming has bothering human for such long time since the industrial revolution. Due to the rising temperature, the average sea ice coverage was 4.3 % below average. It is better to take action as soon as possible before global warming become a threat to human specie. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/08/190815130854.htm

Long Lasting Low Snow Year

When people hear the word snow, the most common scene appears in their minds are cold winter with plants and animals dying from coldness. However, in some aspect snows are what support the ecological and economic of the areas. With the past datas on snow falls from 1970-1999, scientists made a trend that suggest the snow falls for 2050 to 2079. Surprisingly, scientists found out the possibility for years with low snowpack rose from 6.6 percent to 42.2 percent across Western mountains. This is 6 times more common than the possibility for the eastern half of the country. And many industry such as ski resorts need larger amount of snow to maintain the present location they have now, and this would be a challenge faced on all of them. Also, in many aspect it may bring negative effects to wildlife such as wolverine , vegetation and fire activity. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/08/190808152509.htm

PTSD behavior in Wild Animals, 8/10/2019

PTSD, a disorder in which a person has difficulty recovering after experiencing or witnessing a terrifying event. A new research conducted by Western University demonstrates that the fear of predator can left long-lasting effect in the neutral circuitry of animals which produce long fearful behavior. This behavior within animals would cause a decrease in the population, not only by scaring them, but also less care for the youngs. It would pass on and bring larger negative effect on the offsprings. This may sounds negative, however, it increase the survivability of the species in long run, since the offsprings are able to sense the danger better than others that doesn't, increasing the chance of survival. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/08/190807112939.htm

Shift in behavior due to Global Warming, 8/9/2019

With the increasing of temperature world wide, not only the environments responded to the changes, but also animals themselves. Treehoppers, small plant feeding insects, male treehoppers mate by producing vibrational songs attract female treehoppers. In different temperature, male treehoppers produce different songs, some are so vary that it would sounds like other species of animals. The treehoppers change frequency of the songs produced and the songs preferred despite the shift in global climate. It seems very likely that this insect is going to be persist to the change. Thus, we should keep in mind of the effects that global warming placed around world and on living things. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/08/190809154702.htm

World's Largest Frog Build Their Own Habitat, 8/8/2019

Most of frog species in the world lay eggs then left them incubate underwater. Unlike other frog species, the Goliath frog is a specie of frog that build their own habitat for protecting their youths. This explains why their size is unusually large than other frog species. The Goliath Frog weigh up to 3.3 kg and their body length can reach over 34 cm, these characteristics allow Goliath Frog to move rocks weighing up to 2 kg. The researchers found breeding sites of these frogs and recorded a video using camera trap, they found out the adult frog spend all nights to protect the eggs and dig holes to deposit the eggs. The researchers claimed that this is a attempt to discover the behaviors of the Goliath Frog and the information that they gather would be use to support the survival of the frogs. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/08/190808213531.htm

Life saves from the deduction of air pollution levels,8/7/2019

PM 2.5, a measurement of fine matter in the air, are the major threats to human health. It can lead to respiratory and cardiovascular problems. According to 7 datasets, the PM 2.5 level has decreased by 28 to 37 percent between 2002 and 2012. This drop of PM 2.5 level decreased the mortality rate of New Yorkers by 67 percent. A mortality death from 8,410 premature deaths in 2002 to 2,750 deaths in 2012. Long term exposure to PM 2.5 could cause diseases include chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, ischemic heart disease, lung cancer, and cerebrovascular and ischemic stroke. The concern of air pollution must be address as early as possible to reduce the mortality rate. Several factors can be taking into action to reduce the effect of air pollution by using cleaner vehicles which decrease the use of fossil fuels and coal. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/08/190807105638.htm

Pollution is the presence of substances within the environment that has harmful effects which everyone agree with. Ironically, in some aspect pollution did help us in a way, the barrier for the spread of invasive species. Silver Carp, a specie of ship that was accidentally introduced to the Great Lakes. This fish is known to jump from the water, it can move from one close region to another by jumping over the wall. This actions have greatly damage the aquatic food webs and the 7 billion Great Lakes fish industry. According to the study, these fish didn't move past Kankakee for the past decades. It led researchers to wonder what cause the suppress of the spread of these fish. A new study shows the Chicago's water pollution is what contribute to the lack of the spread.

Human effects on Native Species,8/5/2019

Human's effect on nature has grows over the years after the industrial revolution. The introduction of new species to a new environment could result in the unbalance of the ecosystem, the new species often prey on the native species or the food of the native species. This cause the reduction in the population of native species. Accordinly to "Current Biology", half of New Zealand's birds have gone extinct since the arrival of human on the island. And many of them are continuously under the threats of extinction. The extinctions of these birds is so severe that it would take approximately 50 million years to recover the number of birds to its level before the colonization of New Zealand by human. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/08/190805112225.htm

Preventing Spoilers

Spoilers are all over the internet and social media these days, they often ruin the experience of another by giving information about what is going happen in a movie, book, and videos. Researchers want to develop artificial intelligence that shields spoilers from other people, they named it SpoilerNet. They put the AI on Goodreads, a site allows people to track what they read. The AI was able to detect spoilers with 89 to 92 percent accuracy. On TV shows, SpoilerNew was able to detect spoilers in an accuracy of 74 to 80 percent. Nonetheless, there are possibilities for the result to be inaccurate because of the multi definitions of a single word or phrase. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/07/190708135755.htm

Ancient Origin of Photosynthesis

Photosynthesis, the process in which plants use sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to produce food, aka glucose, and oxygen. A recent study has to prove photosynthesis exists long before than what we think it is. Today, some bacterias perform anoxygenic photosynthesis, which splits water in oxygen and hydrogen, releasing oxygen as a product. With the analyzes from heliobacterium modesticaldum, a bacteria that perform anoxygenic photosynthesis, and cyanobacteria which performs oxygenic photosynthesis. The result suggests that oxygenic photosynthesis was not the product of anoxygenic photosynthesis. Evidence suggested anoxygenic photosynthesis emerged about 3.5 billion years ago and oxygenic photosynthesis evolved a billion years after. This evidence allows us to view the evolution of photosynthesis in a different aspect. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/07/190725120556.htm

Formation of Megadrought

During the 9th through the 15th centuries, a dozen megadrought struck the American Southwest, then they disappear around the year of 1600, no one is sure of the reason behind it. Recently, a team of scientists from Columbia University found the main factor that led to megadrought is global warming, and come up with the possibility that the new round of megadroughts may emerge in the near future. The increase of radioactive force sure did play in the role of causing megadrought; however, during the medieval megadroughts, the radioactive force was mainly because of climate variability and now it is because of human and environment interactions. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/07/190724144152.htm

The Discovery of Habitable Planet

A super-Earth planet named GJ 357d located about 31 light-years away was discovered by NASA's TESS(Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite) in early 2019. It belongs to part of the GJ 357 system, a distant solar system, consisted of a diminutive M-type dwarf sun and 3 planets, and with its thick atmosphere, scientists concluded that the planet GJ 357d could maintain liquid water on its surface, this means human and other living things can live on it. If GJ 357d appears to have signs of living, it would become infinite possibilities, such as the development of space technologies to extracting new resources from the space. And solve a mystery that disturbs humans for centuries, "is there any other living form other than human"? https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/07/190731125430.htm

Formation of Bullies 7/30/2019

Bullies, one of the most negative things that can possibly happen in the schools, but have you ever thought of what is the cause for bullies to start bullying. Researchers at the University of Missouri have found that students with a greater sense of others, in general, are less likely to become bullies. A survey of response from more than 900 middle school students are collected and analyzed, the result has shown the more a student feels as they belong to friends and family, the more they feel lie they belong to the school. Thus, parents play an important role in shaping the psychological development of children. Furthermore, a suggestion for increasing the child's family belonging is organized activities that cater to every child's interests. Still, the environment created by schools definitely is an aspect to consider. Altogether, feelings of belonging and the environment that shape the children's aspects are critical for decreasing the number of bullies within schools. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/07/190730125331.htm

Extinction of Elephant might worsen damages of Global Warming 7/29/2019

Elephants are one of the last remaining megaherbivores, forest elephants shape their environment in a negative way especially to the plants. Elephants consumed ten percent of their weight of food every day and they served as forest bulldozers since they eat over a hundred species of plants and destroys tree population to clear out a trail for them to pass, however, plants being destroyed are mostly fast-growing species such shrubs. Scientists composed a simulation, and they found out slow-growing species have a better chance of survival when elephants are present, and these low growing species contain more carbon molecules per unit than fast-growing species. This means without the forest elephants, the ability of carbon absorption by forest in general decreases and forest elephants represent a carbon storage service of 43 billion dollars. These megaherbivores play a critical role in inhibiting the increasing of carbon emission and it is our job to keep them from extinction. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/07/190725100433.htm

Reducing Air Pollution can save more than 30000 lives

Air pollution is the process of releasing harmful chemicals in the air, this increases the PM(matter pollution) of the air, in which the mixture of chemicals can enter the human body and contribute to respiratory and cardiovascular disease and premature death. Research finds from the Center for Air Quality, Climate, and Energy Solutions (CACES) reveals the benefits of decrease the PM below the current national ambient air quality standards. It can save more than thirty thousand lives, which is similar to the number of deaths results from car accidents every year. There are 18.4 million cases of cardiorespiratory deaths from 1999 to 2015, in every country, portions of people dying too early due to current levels of air pollution. If the air quality around the world improves then many death could be avoidable. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/07/190722182130.htm

Parasite become better parasite from genes of the host

Parasite steals genes from their host through a process called horizontal gene transfer, the movement of genetic material from one organism into the genome of another species. A new study at Penn Stae and Virginia Tech reveals that a parasite plant dodder has stolen more than 100 functional genes from its host. Stolen genes can produce mico RNAs that are sent back to the host, causing damages to host defense genes. Professor dePamphilis wondered if horizontal gene transfer genes can occur in other species of parasite plants and are it possible for horizontal gen transfer to occur in other organisms. Also, how can horizontal gene transfer help in researches in other fields. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/07/190722182130.htm

Ultra-processed Food

Health is the main concern in the contemporary period, there are more people dead from health disease than people who died from murdered and suicide together. Americans are overexposed to the product that is high in energy, saturated fat, sugar, and salt, just one of the above can cause severe health problems, Americans are exposed to every single one of them. The scientists analyzed 230,156 products, found 71% of them are ultra-processed. Among the top 25 manufacturers by sales volume, 86 % of products were considered as ultra-processed. And in particularly bread in the U.S. have 12% higher sodium content compared to the U.K. This is a serious problem that should be addressed in the U.S. and scientists are trying to rank foods based on healthfulness, scores from 0.5stars(unhealthiest) to 5 stars(healthiest) to provide buyers quick information of the packaged food. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/07/190725092534.htm

Cause for aging

Aging is something that every living thing has to go through and no one can change, however, new research from the USC Viterbi School of Engineering supply us with an understanding of how the aging process works. According to the research, cells permanently stop creating new cells and it is critical to understand the cause of aging. Senescent cells have an unlimited potential for self-division. As human starts to aging, senescent cells stopped to produce a class of chemicals known as nucleotides, building blocks of DNA. When cells stop to produce nucleotides, they became senescent or aged. This shows that nucleotides are crucial to keep cells young. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/07/190725151018.htm

Global Warming, a faster rate than it has in the last 2000 years

Climate plays an important role in human history, the main trend of climate from 1300 to 1850 is a period known as the little ice age. Indeed, ice age did contribute a lot during this period, however, the following industrial revolution changes the trend due to human emission of chemicals to atmosphere causing worldwide global warming and become an enduring issue of today. Studies show that the warmest period of the last 2,000 years was mostly like in the 20th century because of human emission of CO2 and greenhouse gases, moreover, the speed of global warming has never been as high as it is today. This is what we call human and environment interaction that affects human history immensely. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/07/190724131624.htm

Solar energy, radiant light, and heat from sun converting to energy considered as renewable energy and produced no harmful effects on the environment. Solar energy systems are not only benefiting humans but the entire planet. Solar energy is the fastest-growing source of power worldwide and is expected to provide more than 30 percent of all U.S. electric capacity by 2019. By 2050, solar energy would become the largest electricity source. Not only solar energy doesn't release harmful chemicals to the environment but also being a source of renewable energy, not having to damage the Earth for extracting the resources. Race's role in the development of children's language skill

Education always played an important role in human society and language is what's being used to communicate with one another. Maternal education plays an important role in a child's development. In earlier research, data has shown children of parents with different incomes have a different process in language skills, white with higher income and black with lower income. Until now, educators have realized income is the cause of the language gap rather than race. Maternal education was very important for the early development of children's language at school age. These new findings would help to improve the importance fo maternal education for parents and the school system, no matter what the race of the children is. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/07/190718164854.htm

Within the next 80 years, the would's population is expected to top 11 billion, creating a rise in global food demand and overpopulated area fuels the development of new diseases. Some estimates that infectious disease accounts for 75% of deaths in developing countries and even in the United States, 48 million people suffer from foodborne infection, 3,000 people each year die from the foodborne infection. As the population grows, human and animal interactions increase, which is a likely cause for new human diseases that can become global pandemics. Prediction Volcanic Eruption 7/20/2019

The volcanic eruption is one of the deadliest disasters that human-faced from the ancient time to the contemporary period. Researchers from the University of Cambridge used volcanic minerals known as 'crystal clocks‘ to calculate how long magma can be stored in the volcanic system. If we know how long magma can be stored in the Earth's crust, models of the processes that trigger volcanic eruptions can be improved. To calculate how long magma stored in one area, the researchers use volcanic minerals known as spinel. Researchers used the rates of diffusion of aluminum and chromium within the spinel to determine how long the minerals were stored in the magma. Also, researchers observed the relationship between the rate of ascent of the magma and the release of CO2. CO2 transferred from the magma into gas which helps to indicate the time of volcanic eruptions. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/07/190718145408.htm

7/19/2019, Global Warming brought more habitable land

Russian, the country with the largest landmass on Earth, consider as 1/8 of Earth's total landmass, but more than 50 % of the lands are uninhabitable because of the weather and the landscape. Scientists used current and predicted climate scenarios to examine the climate of Russia and work out the potential for human settlement on the inhabitable land in the future. Researchers found increases in of 3.4°C (RCP 2.6) to 9.1°C (RCP 8.5) in mid-winter; increases of 1.9°C (RCP 2.6) to 5.7°C (RCP 8.5) in mid-summer; and increases in precipitation of 60 mm (RCP 2.6) to 140 mm (RCP 8.5). While under RCP8.5, Asian Russia would have a milder climate by the 2080s. Decreasing permafrost percent from 65% to 40%. The results gathered are fascinating, however, it is more depends on the authorities of Russia to decide and the lack of infrastructure in Siberia is the main concern for people who move to the area. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/06/190606223509.htm

7/18/2019 Snowing ocean water to save Antartica

Global warming is one of the main concerns of people who live in the contemporary period, many are trying to come up with a solution to it. A group of scientists from the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research came out a daring way to stabilizing the West Antarctic Ice Sheet by generating trillions of tons of snowfall by pumping ocean water onto glaciers to prevent the rise of the sea level worldwide. However, the trade-off of this solution is tremendous. First, some natural reserves would be destroyed due to the extraction of ocean water in those regions. Furthermore, the cost of this solution is such an amount that no one country can pay off and every risk should be calculated with the benefits that it will bring. In order to prevent one thing from happening, humankind needs to sacrifices something in return. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/07/190717142709.htm

Exercising not only is healthy for you but also makes you smarter

Many people exercise to get a healthy body, but what if exercising makes you smarter? Neuroscientists at OHSU in Portland, Oregon have discovered that a short burst of exercise boosts the function of a gene that increases connections between neurons in the hippocampus(a region in the brain that associated with learning and memory), in short means exercise makes you smarter. Simple exercises such as a basketball game, or 4,000 steps increase in synapses in the hippocampus. The study showed the relationship between exercising and brain mechanics which can lead to a better understanding of the impact of exercising on the human brain. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/07/190702184555.htm

Extinction due to Human and Environment Interactions

Extinctions are caused by many factors such as climate change(without human interference), predators, lack of food and many more, but since the start of the industrial revolution, the rate of extinction increases drastically due to pollutions, diminish of natural habitats and rapid climate change. A study suggests that Joshua tree, a type of tree that existed since the Pleistocene era, about 2.5 million years ago, is going under extinction as a result of global warming. Using multiple methods, the study arrived at several possible outcomes, the best-case scenario, the chance of survival is 19 percent, the worst case is 0.02 percent. These statistics have shown us, the effects of human on other species and if human can't come up a solution to this problem, eventually, they are the one who is going to suffer from what they've done. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/07/190716073719.htm

Habitable Mars

Many people have thought of space-traveling or living on a planet other than Earth, a study has suggested that silica aerogel could have made regions of the Martian surface habitable. This substance mimics Earth's atmospheric greenhouse effect, researchers show that a 2 to a 3-centimeter thick shield of silica aerogel could transmit enough visible light for photosynthesis. The shield itself could block dangerous ultraviolet radiation, and raise the temperature of the surface permanently above the melting point of water, which means there is the possibility for the plants and animals to live on Mars, creating a new ecosystem that ensures the self-reinforcing cycle. This discovery would eventually become a fundamental part of outer space habitats. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/07/190715114256.htm

Could ice age be a solution to global warming?

There have been long periods of cooling in Earth's history, causing famine all over the world, and they are key factors that result in the fail of empires. Rock weathering plays a huge role in the formation of these ice ages, it results in the formation of mountain ranges such as the Andes, the Himalayas, and the Alps. Consequently, it removed carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, so the impacts of the greenhouse effect decreased and the atmosphere cooled which eventually led to the ice age. With the results researchers have gathered, the chance for weather has increased, which the researchers referred to as reactivity. The higher the reactivity, the more reactive rocks are at the surface, meaning there is little CO2 at the atmosphere, increasing the rate of cooling. The data being gathered suggests a possible outcome in the future which can undo global warming but is this what human actually wants to happen and it could lead to a totally different set of problems in the future related to the ice age.

Mind Game 7/13

A group of researchers from the University of Washington created a method for three people to work together to solve problems using only their minds. Three people are playing Tetris, two of them being the senders who notify the receiver to rotate the block or not by giving yes or no answers. The main point is to trick the neurons in the back of the brain to spread the message that is being received from the eyes. This allows the sensation of objects to appear in front of the participants' eyes. The chance of success rate is 81% and the results gathered from the experiment would pave the way for the future brain to brain interfaces that allow collaborations possible through the brain itself. Telepathic communication would be the main component of future technology.

Sense of insects on Chronic Pain

Chronic Pain is persistent pain that continues after the original injury has healed, researchers are looking for a solution for pain management, targeting the cause and not just the symptoms. Neuropathic 'pain' is a form of chronic disease which is the one taking place in fruit flies. When a nerve of the fly is damaged, after it is completely healing, the researchers found out all legs of flies become hypersensitive which is a way for animals to protect themselves for the rest of their lives. Animals need to lose the 'pain‘ brake to survive in dangerous conditions, human need 'pain' brake to keep them away from painful existence. The researchers conclude neuropathic pain is caused by the loss of the pain brakes in the central nervous system, and now they to focus on making new drugs that can possibly cure and stop the pain. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/07/190712120244.htm

Sugary Drinks Equal to Cancer?

Since the past decades, the consumption of sugary drinks has increased worldwide and is associated with the risk of obesity, which is recognized as a strong risk for many cancers. A group of researchers gathering data from 101,257 healthy Frech adults, the data has shown that a 100mL of sugary drink increase in the consumption have an 18% increased risk of overall cancer and a 22% increased risk of breast cancer. Researchers conclude a possible explanation for these results is the sugar's effects on visceral fat, blood sugar levels, and inflammatory markers, all of which are associated with increased cancer risk. With the introduction of sugary drinks to people all around the world, risks of cancer would become an underlying concern for the contemporary period. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/07/190710193917.htm

Solution to Climate Change-July 10

Climate change is one of the greatest problems that humans faced since the beginning of the industrial revolution. Carbon released into the atmosphere causing the ozone layer to deplete which made the climate to rise. Forest restoration is the best climate change solution available today, under the current climate conditions, Earth's land could support 4.4 billion hectares of tree cover, which is1.6 billion hectares more than the existing 2.8 billion hectares. Once the new trees mature, they could store 205 billion tonnes of carbon, this is 2/3 of the 300 billion tonnes of carbon has been released into the atmosphere since the Industrial Revolution. We can see the potential of reforestation, but we need to act fast since it takes more than decades for the forest to mature, as the forests mature, they will greatly decrease the impacts of the climate change problem. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/07/190704191350.htm

Cow Appreciation Day is created Chick-Fil-A(America Fast Food Chain) in commemoration of Heff R. Jones, as he painted "EAT MOR CHIKIN" on his billboard and encourage people to eat more chicken. This day is designed to save the lives of cows which means not to eat cows for a day. However, it more like an advertisement day made by Chick-Fil-A to promote their brand of food. Anyone who dresses like a cow gets free food from Chick-fil-A. In conclusion, this day is more of marked as a commercial holiday rather than as a day with symbolic meanings.
